THE USEFUL ANSWER

Copy first; investigate second. Do not delete a save folder or overwrite your only copy to troubleshoot a crash, missing needle or mod problem.

Save location: not independently verified

A Steam player asks how to duplicate or transfer saves and reports difficulty finding the files. Our review did not establish a developer-confirmed exact folder for the current demo. This page deliberately does not print a guessed path as fact.

Use the current developer documentation or a version-matched answer in the linked discussion to identify the correct files. Windows AppData is not itself proof of a specific game-save location.

Make a backup you can distinguish from the original

Once the correct location is confirmed, use this conservative backup procedure. These are file-handling precautions rather than claims about the game’s internal save format.

  1. Save normally and close the game so the files are not being written while you copy them.
  2. Copy the confirmed save data to a separate dated folder. Do not move or rename the only original.
  3. Include the build version and whether the co-op mod was installed in a small text note.
  4. Check that the copied files exist and have sensible sizes and timestamps. A directory name alone is not a verified backup.
  5. Keep that copy unchanged while you test an update or configuration change. Restore only after confirming which files the game expects.

Separate three kinds of transfer

Duplicating a local save, moving between computers and importing demo progress into a future full release are different tasks. A method that handles one does not establish support for the others.

The co-op mod author says that the host saves the shared world and clients do not write their own saves. A joining player’s machine is therefore not automatically a second copy of that shared world. Ask the host to preserve the world before a mod update.

When something already went wrong

Stop making repeated changes. Record the last working build, the exact error, the time of the last successful save and any cloud-sync prompt. Keep copies of the remaining files before trying another launch.

Do not resolve an unfamiliar cloud conflict by choosing a timestamp at random. Compare the available files and preserve separate copies first. This guide cannot guarantee recovery or confirm that this game supports every Steam Cloud feature.

Questions before you continue

What is the exact save-file path?

It has not been independently verified in this edition of the guide. Check the linked current discussion or developer support before copying or deleting a directory.

Will demo progress transfer into the full game?

This review did not confirm a developer promise of save transfer. Preserve a backup, but do not assume compatibility.
